The National Weather Service has issued Winter Weather Advisories for much of Colorado's mountain areas. Snow is expected through Friday (3/7) across the higher elevations including the I-70 corridor west of Denver, and all northwest and southwest Colorado mountain ranges and passes. Snow and gusty winds are anticipated to impact travel across most, if not all mountain passes leading up to the weekend. Please visit COTrip.org for further updates.

Additional travel advisories:

Commercial Motor Vehicles must carry tire chains or have alternate traction devices when traveling in the mountains per state law

All vehicles must have adequate snow tires when traveling on mountain corridors

Anticipate heavy ski traffic Friday through Sunday

New Law - Colorado 'Must Carry' Expansion!

Beginning on September 1, 2024 all Commercial Motor Vehicles with a GVWR of 16,000# or greater must carry chains or approved alternate traction devices on the below Colorado Mountain Corridors.

 I-70 west of MP 259 (Morrison)

CO-9 MP 63 to MP 97 (Frisco to Fairplay)

US Route 40 west of MP 256 (Empire)

 US Route 160 west of MP 304 (Walsenburg) 

US Route 285 west of MP 250 (Morrison)

US Route 550 from MP 0 to 130
